In between lockdown chaos the third-born and I loaded our swags into the van and took a five day unplanned road trip along the Great Ocean Road. She was only 8 or 9 but it has become a core memory, and one of her most loved adventures – even though all we really did was find places to set up our swag, eat lots of sausages in bread, find mum a good coffee, read the maps, follow kookaburras, play Uno, stay up to stare at the full moon, swim, and watch the scenery change as we plodded along. Once again proving these iconic Australian landscapes are memory catchers. These latest works are a self-driven challenge set around colour, joy, and a childlike sense of perspective.
