Inchgower is a Speyside distillery near the village of Buckie, in Moray. It was founded in 1871 by Alexander Wilson, as he was forced to leave Tochieneal Distillery due to rising rent. As such, much of the equipment used also came from Tochieneal. Inchgower was acquired by Arthur Bell and Sons in 1938, who would later renovate the distillery and double the capacity to over 2 million litres per year. They also made Inchgower a key component of Bell’s Blended Whisky. Now under the stewardship of Diageo, it additionally contributes to Johnnie Walker expressions. Official releases of Inchgower are rare. In fact, only 1% of the distillery’s output is held back for this purpose. The only available single malt is the Flora and Fauna 14 Year Old, which showcases Inchgower’s nutty, spicy and waxy profile. Releases from independent bottlers can also be found.
